The Jungle Lives Within You
My Story
My name is Doortje Hefting and I am a 25 year old self-taught artist living in the Netherlands.
Creating has always been a big part of my life. For as long as I can remember, I have been drawing, writing and creating stories. When paint came into my life at the age of 21, my artwork took off. I fell in love even more. What's inside my mind, comes to life through the brushstrokes and vibrant colors.
My art journey began at a very young age and was tremendously influenced by the Japanese world of manga and anime. Back when I was 8 years old, I drew complete manga comicbooks and pretended as if I was a real publishing author. My audience? Just my parents. But that didn't matter to me. All that mattered was being able to draw and drift away in my fantasies.
During my teenage years the big manga-eyes became a little bit smaller and I started incorporating more realistic aspects in my artwork. After trying various subjects and styles, I found my true passion in painting worlds full of wilderness, wild animals (especially big cats!) and most of all, love between nature and humanity.
In the beginning of 2020, I decided to take the leap and go professional with my artwork. Ahead lay a bumpy road with lots of twists and turns. But looking back now, I can see how much I've grown in just a year time. Not only business wise - my art style has evolved so much too since I started dedicating all my time.
I am so happy where I am now and so excited for what is to come. Right now my artwork and fine art prints sell internationally. My art has been on display in 3 large international art fairs, being viewed by people from all over the world. Nothing makes me more happy than the fact that my art hangs on the walls of people who remembered their connection with nature, who discovered their inner jungle. I am forever grateful for that.

A Portal to a Better World...
My art serves as a gateway from this world to a better one, where humans don't live next to nature, but with nature. Because I believe we are not more special than any other species. I believe nature lives as much in us as it lives in wild creatures and grand trees. We have just forgotten it. I aspire to reunite us with our true motherland.
